Cookie policy
What we set, why we set it, and how to change your mind.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. Some are needed for the site to work at all, such as keeping you signed in. Others are optional, and we only set those if you say yes.
The cookies we use
Essential
These are always on, because the site cannot work without them, so they do not need your consent.
- forestry-connect-session keeps you signed in as you move between pages. It ends when you log out, or after a spell of inactivity.
- XSRF-TOKEN protects the forms on the site from being submitted by another website. It lasts as long as your session.
- remember_web_ followed by a code is only set if you tick Remember me when you log in. It keeps you signed in on that device for up to 400 days, or until you log out.
Two similar things are kept in your browser rather than as cookies. If you make a cookie choice, it is saved in your browser’s local storage so we do not ask again on every page. If you install the Forestry Connect app, your device keeps a copy of the site’s files so it opens quickly and works offline.
Analytics
We do not use analytics or advertising cookies at the moment. If that changes, they will only ever be set if you accept them, and this page will list them.
Changing your mind
There is nothing to accept or decline at the moment, because we only set the essential cookies listed above.
Every browser also lets you block or delete cookies for any site from its own settings. Blocking the essential cookies will stop you being able to sign in.
Third parties
Our payment provider, Stripe, sets its own cookies during checkout to help detect fraud. We do not control those, and they are covered by Stripe’s own privacy policy.
Our pages also load typefaces from Adobe Fonts and icons from Font Awesome, and the directory map loads map images from OpenStreetMap. These services see your IP address when a page opens, as any website you visit does, but they do not set cookies on this site. Our privacy policy has the full list.
