Terms and conditions
The agreement between you and Forestry Connect, in plain English wherever we can manage it.
1. Who we are
Forestry Connect is operated as a sole trader business from 3 Salisbury Avenue, Hawick, TD9 9NY, United Kingdom. These terms govern your use of the Forestry Connect website and platform. By creating an account you agree to them.
2. Membership and accounts
To reach members-only features you need an account and a current membership. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for what happens on your account.
Individual memberships are for one person. Company memberships are held by an organisation and given to named people through seats; your company admin decides who holds a seat and what each seat can do, and can remove a seat at any time.
You must be 18 or over to hold an account.
3. Payment and billing
Memberships are billed in advance, monthly or annually, and payments are taken by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
Prices are in pounds sterling. Forestry Connect is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is added. If you pay with a card from outside the UK, Stripe may show you the price in your own currency at checkout, converted at its rate on the day, and each renewal is converted at the rate on the day it is taken. If you pay in pounds, your own bank sets the exchange rate.
If a payment fails, we email you and you keep full access for seven days while Stripe tries the payment again. If it still has not been collected after seven days, access is paused until the payment is sorted, and everything comes back as soon as it is.
We may change our prices. Existing members will be told before a change affects them, and a change only ever takes effect at a renewal.
4. Cancelling, refunds and cooling off
- You can cancel anytime from your account (Manage billing) or by contacting us. There is no notice period and no cancellation fee.
- You can also delete your account from your account settings. That ends any paid membership straight away rather than at the end of the period. See our privacy policy for what happens to your information.
- When you cancel, your membership runs to the end of the period you have paid for, then simply does not renew. We do not part-refund unused time on a standard cancellation.
- On a free trial you can cancel any time before the trial ends and pay nothing at all.
- As a consumer you have a 14 day right to cancel when you first subscribe. Your membership starts as soon as you pay, because you ask us to start it straight away. If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment, we will refund what you paid minus a proportionate amount for the days you had access.
- If we ever get something wrong (a double charge, a billing error), we will put it right and refund promptly. Contact dale@forestryconnect.co.uk.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use Forestry Connect lawfully and professionally. You must not misuse the directory, the feed, messaging or the jobs board, scrape or bulk-copy member data, or try to reach parts of the platform you have not been given access to.
6. Community policy
The spirit of the place
Forestry Connect is the professional home of the forestry industry. Talk shop, ask for help, celebrate good work, disagree constructively. Treat the feed like a room full of colleagues you respect.
Not welcome here
- Abuse, harassment, discrimination or personal attacks.
- Unlawful content, or content that is misleading, defamatory or infringes someone else’s rights.
- Spam and repeated self-promotion outside sensible professional sharing.
- Sharing another member’s private information without their consent.
- Photos or videos you do not have the right to share, including music or footage that belongs to someone else, or people filmed without their agreement.
- Fake or misleading job listings.
How moderation works
- Any member can report a post. A post reported by several different members is hidden automatically until our team has reviewed it.
- The Forestry Connect team reviews reports and may remove posts, and warn, suspend or remove accounts for serious or repeated breaches.
- If we remove one of your posts, we will email you to say so. If you think we have got it wrong, reply to that email or contact us and a member of our team will take a second look.
7. Your content and moderation
You keep ownership of everything you post. You give us a licence to store and display it on the platform so the service can work, and that licence ends when the content is deleted.
Content removed under the community policy above may be retained for a short period for records and appeals.
8. Liability
Forestry Connect is a place for the industry to meet. We do not vet members, jobs, contracts or the work that follows from them, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for losses arising from connections, listings or transactions arranged through the platform. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will let members know of significant changes before they take effect.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland.
